Paper Prototypage

Ok so here's the thing... I'm supposed to do this paper prototyping thing for my animation accept one problem. Paper prototyping is usually done for interface builders... such as websites or DVD menus...

So here are ideas for possible paper protytypes...
1. Make storyboard frames with scenes of the movies, let audience play around with the scenes and give me feedback
2. Present my design for the website people will goto, hopefully, after watching the animation where they will get to learn how to play go, find more information, and also watch the movie again.

I have another class where it is similar to this class except specifically for the animation people. We are currently working on character designs and story development. I'll be making color mockups of my characters soon and I'll post them up here. Feedback and criticism is encouraged :D

oh and Johnny!!! i found this program called Endorphin where it deals with how people fall, get hit, pretty much anything that deals with humans smashing into things and how it animates. I dunno if its Maya compatible but here have a look NaturalMotion: Endorphin

Possible Viewers??? Hmmm O_o

Here are two who may see my thesis project.

Name: Allen Kim
Age: 23
Occupation: Accountant
Hobbies: Playing go, reading, listening to music
Description: Allen Chang is an educated man who likes to live his life in peace. He has a good job as an accountant and is paid well. During his free time he likes to study go and read. He was the head of his go club in high school and did very well in school.

-Here is a man who would be the one who already knows the game of go and relate to the movie in some way. He would be able to connect the scenes seen during the fight scene with the actual game of go.

Name: Laura Kemp
Age: 18
Occupation: Student
Hobbies: Playing sports, hanging out with friends
Description: Laura Kemp is a girl who just wants to have fun and not care about what happened in the past. She likes to chat with friends and always found either at he friends house or out at the mall. She does good in school and very well in sports. She will be going to college next year with a scholarship she earned from her sporting events.

- Laura is the kind of girl who would watch my animation with probably just for the sake of “cool”. She may not be interested in playing games, but she would be impressed with the animation I made, and move on.

Hmm... what if this happened?

Since my thesis idea is an animation I decided to make my user scenario about the website I will also create for the animation.

Derek is 16 years old. He likes to solve riddles, play video games, and fiddle with computers. He is what you may call a geek. At school he is usually the one people with problems with their computers and electronics. He also works as the AV at school and is known by everyone. One day he passes by a showing of thesis projects by the Design and Technology Department and decides to go and see what is inside. There he sees many different projects, ranging from animation to installations. He comes across a display where a wooden board of some sort with bowls of black and white stones is displayed. Above the board he sees a screen playing a short film. He watches as two people playing this game becomes something of a battle. After watching the film, a link is displayed on the screen for more information on the film and on the game played. He is interested and takes a card, which has the name of the creator and the site. There he finds information on how the movie was made, and links to where the game can be learned.

Paul is also a 15 years old. He likes to play video games and hang out with friends. He likes to play soccer and usually out playing with friends in either a sport or video game. Unlike Derek, he does ok in school and does enough to pass the class. Only form of puzzle he would figure out would be from video games or finding ways to beat his opponent. He also comes across the Design and Technology thesis show, but instead of his interest in the actual show he was dragged along with his friend. He looks around and finds some interesting things, but not many hold his interest. He finally comes upon a screen where two characters are fighting each other in fierce combat. It reminds him of a time when he was playing a video game with his friend. He finds it somewhat interesting and decides to also check it out. He finds out about the game and the idea of the game interests him, making him want to play and see if he can feel the same as the characters in the animation.

Sketches of idea

These are three images of Jae, the female sibling. The first is of her in the real world while the other is of her in the mental world. Also shown with her swords.

Next three are of Victor, the older brother, more sophisticated and serious. He wears a shirt and tie at all time. In the mental world he is a mighty samurai with a custom sword to hold in a comfortable way.

This image is an overview of how the room will be layed out. On the left side is the girl's desk, all messy and unorganized. To the right is the guy's desk, clean and organized. This shows the way each of them think. One is an easy going, party liking girl, while the other is a serious, strive for the future kind of guy.

Below is a go board i thought of to make for the room.
